Assistant General Counsel The candidate manage all legal affairs of Connected Building in the Americas and coordinate the legal support for the GBE worldwide. Reporting to the HBT General Counsel. Will be responsible for the implementation of excellent contractual arrangements with all external business partners, with a special focus on connected offerings. Anticipate and mitigate potential legal problems within the GBE and develop strategies to avoid costly litigation and reduce potential areas of risk. The General Counsel will partner with the GBE leadership, advise on a broad range of legal and compliance matters and ensure that appropriate risk management strategies are in place. Be a business partner to the GBE leadership by providing general commercial legal advice on a broad range of transactions. Drive the development and implementation of a set of standard contracts for all major business transactions with a special focus on connected offerings and software (licenses, software as a service agreements, system integrator and other channel partner agreements). Support and lead different cross-functional projects partnering with business and functional leaders in the GBE and in the Corporate Legal team, to implement SBG-wide projects and initiatives. Manage disputes and develop strategies to avoid costly litigation. Drive compliance with all Honeywell policies, including those relating to approval of Sales Intermediaries, Ethical Conduct, Competition Law, Personal Data, Export Control and the Schedule of Executive Approvals. Partner with the GBE management in analyzing risks and proposing solutions to manage those risks. Assess potential legal risks. Influence senior management. Coaching and development. Develop standardized processes. Act as trusted advisor.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have Juris Doctorate/Bachelor of Laws or Equivalent. Must have 8 years of progressive experience with a major law firm and industry experience. Fluent in English, additional languages being an asset. Should have experience in software as a service, data rights and/or licenses. Must have experience in a matrix-environment building strong partnerships. Should have sound and enthusiastic leader with strong interpersonal and influencing skills. Must have excellent communication skills including effective written, verbal and presentation skills. Should have excellent organizational skills, including attention to detail and planning skills, and the ability to prioritize and handle multiple competing tasks/projects at the same time in a fast paced, demanding environment.
