Assistant Inspector General The candidate functions as prosecuting advocate in all disciplinary actions initiated by the Inspector General. Plans, directs and controls legal development of allegations involving corruption, misconduct or illegal, unethical or improper practices by agency officials, employees, contractors or other persons or organizations which receive money from or through the agency. Supervises and trains legal staff of the Office of Inspector General. Consults with the Department of Investigation and other governmental law enforcement and regulatory agencies concerning the progress of investigations and preparation for criminal prosecution. Supervises the preparation of reports required to be prepared for the Department of Investigation under the City Charter and applicable Executive Orders. Supervises the collection and safeguarding of all information and evidence gathered by investigation for possible turnover to an appropriate law enforcement agency. Performs highly confidential and sensitive investigations and studies. Performs other assignments of a confidential or sensitive nature as described by the Inspector General. Must have a Baccalaureate Degree or equivalent, and LLB or JD degree from an accredited School of Law and admission to New York State Bar; and 3+ years of experience and background in the practice of law subsequent to admission to the Bar in matters of litigation, negligence, corporate law, contracts, real estate, labor relations, employment law and employee relations.
