Job Title: Mid-Level To Senior-Level Intellectual Property Attorney

Job Overview:

A leading law firm, specializing in intellectual property law, is seeking an experienced Mid-Level to Senior Intellectual Property Attorney to join its growing Biotechnology/Pharma team. This position offers the flexibility to work 100% remotely, with the option for hybrid or in-office work. The successful candidate will handle patent counseling, procurement, and opinions, with opportunities for licensing and enforcement within the life sciences sector.

Duties:

  • Provide strategic counsel on intellectual property matters, focusing on patent protection and portfolio management.
  • Manage the preparation and prosecution of complex patent applications related to biological sciences, including molecular biology, genetics, and biotechnology.
  • Oversee a global patent portfolio, collaborating with foreign patent counsel to ensure efficient prosecution across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Advise clients on IP-related due diligence, including conducting patentability, freedom-to-operate, infringement, and invalidity analyses.
  • Consult with inventors, technical experts, and patent portfolio managers to refine patent strategies and ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Develop and present detailed legal opinions to clients on IP matters, including risks, opportunities, and competitive positioning.

Requirements:

  • . or Master’s degree in a biological discipline (., molecular biology, microbiology, genetics, biochemistry, or biotechnology).
  • A minimum of 4+ years of experience in intellectual property law, with a focus on patent prosecution in the life sciences sector.
  • Active membership in the Pennsylvania Bar (or eligibility for admission).
  • USPTO registration is required.
  • Strong academic credentials and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex technical and legal issues and provide actionable advice to clients.
  • Self-motivated with a results-oriented approach and the ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Education:

  • . or MS in a biological science field, such as molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, microbiology, or biotechnology.

Certifications:

  • USPTO Registration.

Skills:

  • Expertise in patent prosecution, including drafting and prosecuting patent applications.
  • Ability to manage a global patent portfolio and work with foreign patent counsel.
  • In-depth technical knowledge in biology or biotechnology, with the ability to translate scientific concepts into clear legal language.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
