Senior Legal Editor, Privacy and Data Security The candidate will research, draft, and edit core privacy and data security legal know-how resources for the company's online products and services. Develop new content ideas for privacy & data security, including practice notes, standard documents and clauses, checklists, comparative charts, and other privacy compliance-focused resources. Monitor legal, practice, and market developments globally and maintaining current awareness on privacy & data security topics. Writ, edit, and publish legal updates and other current awareness resources on privacy and data security topics globally. Complete regular interim and annual maintenance on privacy and data security resources. Work with Legal Editors and Senior Associate Editors on the team on various content and non-content tasks. Establish and maintain relationships with external law firm contributors. Respond to customer questions about law and practice in the area of privacy and data security. Provide additional editorial and product support, as needed. Support non-content related tasks, as needed. Support the sales and marketing teams in their efforts to market privacy and data security content by proving product demos, speaking on webinars and at conferences, writing articles, and more. Work on projects for the Director, Privacy & Data Security, as needed.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have a J.D. degree. Must have 8+ years of experience working as a lawyer in a law firm or in-house with experience in both US and non-US privacy and data security matters, with a focus on compliance. Extensive knowledge of data protection requirements and concepts under US and global data protection laws and experience in a broad range of privacy, data protection, and information security matters. Experience handling complex, global privacy compliance matters under data protection laws in the EU, Asia-Pacific, and Latin America is a plus. Should understand current market issues and proposals to enact, amend, or change privacy and data security laws and regulations. Should also understand the needs and priorities of law firm attorneys, in-house counsel, and other privacy compliance professionals. The ability to understand and provide practical guidance on complex legal issues, including how different data protection laws apply in practice, is needed.
