Job Title: Estate Planning Attorney
Job Overview: A distinguished law firm in Westlake Village, California, is seeking an experienced Estate Planning Attorney. This position involves working with clients to craft tailored estate plans, managing legal documentation, and providing expert guidance on estate-related matters. The attorney will collaborate closely with the firm’s team to ensure legal solutions meet the unique needs of each client.
Duties:
- Conduct consultations with prospective clients to assess their estate planning needs.
- Review and update existing estate plans for returning clients.
- Prepare and review legal documents, ensuring accuracy and adherence to client specifications.
- Manage client engagement, including handling legal agreements and payment processes.
- Collaborate with internal teams, utilizing task management systems (., Lawcus, Asana) to track case progress and deadlines.
- Maintain clear and organized documentation of all client interactions, meetings, and correspondences.
- Present estate plans to clients, providing thorough explanations and addressing any concerns.
- Coordinate with financial advisors when needed, ensuring client consent and proper documentation.
- Participate in regular meetings with the estate planning team and attend firm-wide staff meetings.
- Undertake other related projects as assigned.
Requirements:
- Active license with the California State Bar.
- Strong background in estate planning, with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
- Knowledge of income, gift, and estate tax laws.
- Experience with advanced estate planning techniques is preferred.
Education:
- Licensed attorney by the California State Bar.
- Preferably a State Bar Certified Specialist in Trust, Wills, and Probate.
- Ongoing commitment to continuing education in the area of estate planning.
Certifications:
- Notary Public certification is preferred but not required.
- State Bar Certified Specialist in Trust, Wills, and Probate (preferred).
Skills:
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
- Proficient in task management software and general computer literacy.
- Capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously with strong time management skills.
