Assistant Vice President – Liability Major Case Unit The candidate will visibly support and execute on Claim and MCU strategic initiatives and goals. Stay current on liability and litigation trends, as well as industry and environmental trends. Manage and implement change, as appropriate, related to Process Ownership recommendations, The Hartford Way, ECOS enhancements, etc. Use critical thinking skills to gather information, apply sound reasoning, draw appropriate conclusions and make sound decisions in team’s management of high exposure liability claims. Ensure that claim exposures and damages are thoroughly and appropriately analyzed and that reserve recommendations are timely communicated and implemented. Ensure that complex coverage and liability issues are accurately analyzed and resolved. Communicate orally and in writing in a clear, succinct manner. Build and sustain strong partnership and collaboration with the Field Claims Organization and in particular with the Field Claims Western GL/Auto Lit group. Possess superior analytical and critical thinking skills and excellent time management abilities. Develop and sustain effective and mutually supportive relationships with business partners and customers to enhance cross-functional learning and communication on claim initiatives or trends, financial impacts, service capabilities and customer needs. Effectively hold self and staff accountable for achievement of business results and outcomes. Should have 8-10 years of P&C claim industry experience. Must have superior technical knowledge regarding liability and litigation matters. Must have 5+ year’s prior experience in team leader, manager or equivalent leadership role. Law degree or other advanced degree preferred.
