Senior Associate for Educational Grants Responsibilities: Handles the negotiation and administration of educational grants form industry for the support of Partners educational programs. This entails: Ensuring all grants are compliant with internal and external policies and legal requirements; Collecting and reviewing requirement documentation; Tracking and documenting all activity related to the grants, and as required; Ensuring that courses have been approved by the Partners Education Committee and arranging for expert content review of courses. Handles other related matters raised in connection with industry funding in connection with Partners educational programs, such as exhibit booth, sponsorship, and promotional opportunities, ensuring that all such fund-raising properly addresses unrelated business income and other relevant legal issues. Handles institutional receipt of industry funding for all fellowship programs and for industry gifts for research activities, ensuring that the receipt of such funding is compliant with internal policies and legal requirements and coordinating as appropriate with hospital development offices, Partners Innovation and Clinical Trials Office, and other institutional offices. Participates in the design, continuous improvement, and implementation of systems to handle daily workflow in the area of Educational Grants and the other types of industry funding described above, including systems for intake and evaluation of work and fielding customer inquiries and cases, and managing the handling of specific cases including follow-up with customers, for the inquiries and cases that are directly handled by OII. Contributes to the development of policy refinements in the area of Educational Grants and the other types of industry funding described above, based upon live cases and other policy priorities or initiatives as identified by OII leadership and Partners committees and management. Staffs the Partners committee that provides oversight for the Educational Grants area, including setting agendas, preparing and presenting cases and other matters for review by the committee, codifying committee decisions in minutes, and committee follow-up with relevant parties. Works closely with the committee co-chairs, to handle grants administratively within committee-approved guidelines. Develops and delivers communications and educational material to keep the Partners community informed about pertinent policies in the area of Educational Grants and the other types of industry funding described above, including maintaining and updating OII website and FAQ and working with the Deputy Director to establish and maintain a comprehensive educational platform in Program area consisting of a combination of live presentations, periodic electronic communications, and such other vehicles as determined to be appropriate. Maintains a current and in-depth understanding of policies and regulations that govern the area of Educational Grants and works cooperatively with peer organizations to share best practices and stay informed of national and regional developments in the Program area. Facilitates constructive interactions with industry by enabling Partners individuals to understand the impact of industry financial support on Partners educational programs and ways to assure that conflicts will not develop. Such other tasks relating to support of industry support of Partners educational programs as are determined by the Director of OII.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Advanced degree, or comparable experience, required. JD Degree preferred. 5+ years of experience securing and managing grants or drafting and negotiating contracts. Experience working with physicians, administrators, and large complex not-for-profit institutions is preferred. Strong analytical skills. Excellent interpersonal and written and oral communication skills. Team player with collaborative working style. The ability to set priorities and manage expectations; Strong management skills for planning, organizing and communicating and meeting tight deadlines. Integrity and a strong sense of professional ethics; The ability to work constructively with a demanding clientele under stressful conditions. Skill in the use of MS Office, including MS Access and PowerPoint.
