Organization: **** is a legal resource center for immigrants and immigration advocates across Michigan. It is part of Michigan Statewide Advocacy Services (MSAS), a non-profit law firm providing free legal services to low-income and senior individuals.
Program Description: MIRC provides direct representation, pro bono referrals, impact litigation, training, coalition building, advocacy, technical support, and more. The three pillars of their work are direct legal services, systemic advocacy, and community education and engagement.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide immigration services to low-income individuals
- Collaborate with a dynamic team of attorneys
- Conduct legal research and analysis
- Represent clients in legal proceedings
- Participate in impact litigation and advocacy efforts
Qualifications:
- Licensed to practice law in Michigan, qualified for admission by waiver, or able to take the next Michigan bar exam
- Excellent communication, collaboration, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated commitment to protecting the rights of immigrants or other persons in poverty
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Proficient with major software and web services, including Word, Excel, and G Suite
- Access to reliable internet connection for remote work
- Prior experience, especially related to immigration and poverty, preferred
- Fluency in Spanish is a plus
