Family Law Paralegal Duties: File management (both paper and electronic). Billing clients by keeping track of time spent. Correspondence with clients, pro se opposing parties, opposing counsel and their support staff, Court Clerks, Bailiffs and Judicial Assistants via phone, letter and email. KCSC, ECF, and LINX navigation â€“ e-filing, e-serving, downloading, and searching. Correspondence with outside agencies. Calendaring motions hearings, case schedules, depositions, etc. Docketing / scheduling motions, hearings, meditations, depositions, etc. Drafting pleadings to include Petitionâ€™s, Declarations, Child Support Worksheets, Motions, ER 904s, etc. Drafting clear and concise correspondence, emails, etc. Meeting with clients.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate must: 5+ years' experience in family law, estate planning and probate. Be reliable and personable. Present professionally. Critical thinking skills and be able to think on your feet. Have strong written and oral communication skills. Have strong math skills- Have the ability to work closely with others as well as independently. Be a self-started and quick learner. Extremely well organized and possess impeccable attention to detail. Able to manage multiple cases with conflicting deadlines and time pressures. Be proficient in typing (60 wpm). Have good computer skills. Have experience with WordPerfect and CLIO a plus. Have experience with Gmail / Google Calendar, Office Suite 2010, Windows 7, PDF creating software, and experience using basic office equipment. Be familiar with Washington court rules and filing deadlines / statutes of limitation / JIS. Have a passion for helping people recover from trauma, move forward with their lives, and plan for their futures.
