Counsel, Associate General Employment
Duties: Provide legal support to various entities and departments. Provide litigation support, prepare legal documents, develop corporate wide compliance programs, and develop and manage corporate policies and data retention policies. May help edit, negotiate, or finalize contracts involving leases, licenses, purchases, sales, insurance, and related matters. Review and evaluate pending legal actions or regulatory issues that may impact USX or its entities. Develop trial or negotiation strategy for assigned case loads. Produce necessary documents to support litigation. Ensure case documents are filed, submitted or retained as necessary for successful litigation. Prioritize case loads and filings to ensure deadlines are met. Settle USX cases in litigation up to settlement authority. Liaison with outside legal counsel on contracts, litigation documents, regulatory filings, and other issues where warranted. Interface and negotiate with Government entities and personnel including State and/or Federal courts, OSHA, DOT, EEOC, the Department of Labor, and others. Coordinate the execution and implementation of data retention policies with relevant USX departments. Perform audits on polices to ensure they are being carried out accurately. Provide day to day advice and counseling to company executives. Respond to legal requests from USX departments or entities. Review, draft, and/or edit documents, procedures, manuals, guidelines, proposals, requests for proposals, press releases, media publications, advertising and regulatory filings. Help maintain a report of pending litigation. Supervise support staff. Assist in the administration of the corporate books for all entities. Prepare minutes of annual and corporate executive meetings when required. Edit and negotiate contracts, agreements, and settlements. Handle accessorial issues and other contractual issues that arise within USX departments. Maintain awareness of current laws and regulations pertinent to the trucking industry. Coordinate execution and implementation of compliance programs. May perform special legal projects and other duties for senior management and corporate officers. Some travel may be required.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: JD Degree from an accredited law school required. 3-5 years’ working experience in employment law required. Supervisory experience of a legal assistant/paralegal preferred. Experience in the transportation industry a plus. Current law license in good standing. Superior written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Strong problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently, efficiently, proactively, and effectively on multiple projects under tight deadlines. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
