General Civil Litigation Legal Assistant The candidate assists in preparing accurate and properly formatted legal pleadings, discovery, orders and judgments and follow up on court filings under attorney supervision. Schedules and manages appointments, including meetings, conferences, court dates, and depositions for team members. Assists in reviewing, prioritizing, filing, and routing incoming mail. Arrange for and follow-up on documents properly served by court or process servers. Communicate with court clerks as well as clients and opposing counsel for updates, changes and issues with various courts. Maintaining current and orderly files according to Firm guidelines. Answering telephone calls. Provides relevant and timely information to clients and team members in a professional, courteous, and effective manner. Familiar with preparation and processing of written discovery, pleadings, judgments and order and related work.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should preferably have Paralegal certification or degree in related field. Excellent organization, interpersonal and communication skills essential. Excellent grammatical, spelling and writing skills and experience drafting, editing and revise correspondence, discovery, and pleadings needed. Should have 1 year of prior experience working in a general civil litigation law practice involving State and Federal case loads. Work experience should include one or more of the following areas: landlord tenant, general civil litigation, property disputes, employment disputes, construction litigation and general contract litigation. Must possess proficient technical user knowledge of Microsoft Office programs including Microsoft Word and Excel. Familiarity with Federal and State electronic filing and court rules related to service and other issues essential.
