Attorney Adviser (General), GS 14 - 15 Duties: The candidate will serve as an Associate General Counsel in the Office of the Deputy General Counsel. Will provide legal and policy advice, counsel, and opinions on legal and policy issues under the direction of the Air Force General Counsel, the chief legal officer in the Department of the Air Force and the Deputy General Counsel related to these areas of expertise. Assist the Deputy General Counsel (Contractor Responsibility and Conflict Resolution) and/or designated supervisor in carrying out responsibilities in matters pertaining to conflict resolution, negotiations, and alternative dispute resolution. Assist the Deputy General Counsel and/or designated supervisor in carrying out responsibilities in matters pertaining primarily to acquisition integrity, contractor responsibility, and procurement fraud. Provide programmatic support and assistance with problems relating to the functional areas assigned.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: The candidate should have successfully completed a full course of study in a school of law accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA) and have the first professional law degree (LLB or JD degree).
GS-14 or GS-15 Level: Must have first professional law degree (LL.B. or JD degree) and active (or equivalent) membership, in good standing, in the Bar of the highest court of a state, U.S. commonwealth, U.S. territory, or the District of Columbia. In addition must have professional legal experience in excess of three years that is commensurate with the duties and responsibilities of the position
Must have knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and policies pertaining to the specialized areas of legal practice, as determined by the General Counsel or Deputy General Counsel; Skill in recognizing and analyzing key legal issues in a factual situation and applying well-reasoned analysis to reach clear, concise conclusions and writing legal opinions and memoranda; Skill in various research methodologies, including computer-assisted technologies, gathering data and conducting interviews; Knowledge of communication methodologies and staffing processes peculiar to the legal profession and the Air Force. Must have ability to communicate complex legal issues and theories effectively orally and in writing, and knowledge of computer-assisted drafting software, e.g. Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, etc. Must be a graduate of a law school accredited by the American Bar Association, and be currently licensed as an attorney, in active (or equivalent) status and in good standing, with the bar of a U.S. state, territory, or commonwealth.
