ProfileSummer Law Clerk The intern will under close supervision, researches law, investigates facts, and prepares documents to assist legal counsel to the Water Resources Commissioner. Intern will researches and analyzes sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, treaties, constitutions and legal codes to prepare legal documents such as briefs, pleadings, affidavits, contracts and easements for review, approval, and use by an attorney. Assists the attorney in preparation for and during Oakland County Board of Commissioner presentations, drainage district board meetings, and various administrative hearings. Assists the attorney in preparation for public meetings with local municipalities. Assists in the preparation of FOIA and subpoena responses. Researches and tracks pending legislation that may affect the office of the Water Resources Commissioner. Reviews bankruptcy filings by water and sewer customers. Keeps files of all documents and correspondence important to the assigned matter. Utilizes current county-wide and/or department specific software to complete assignments. Must be enrolled in Law School. Possess a valid driver's or chauffeur's license.
