Director, Pharma Counsel The candidate will act as counsel for assigned clients on broad range of legal matters. Will manage legal issues via coordination with Legal Centers of Excellence, Legal management and other functions, as appropriate. Lead legal review of plans, presentations, communications and other materials from BU Leadership team. Partner with commercial, regulatory, and medical colleagues to ensure timely review of all promotional materials. Contribute actively to promotional review team by evaluating potential risk and providing counsel. Ensure coordination with other legal associates supporting brand to ensure consistency. Coordinate additional support as needed. Provide legal counsel and risk management on commercial contracts, including contracts with suppliers, vendors, managed care customers and specialty pharmacies. Assist with management of on-going litigation, including investigations. Partner with and provide direction to outside counsel as appropriate. Partner with Ethics and Compliance to proactively identify and manage potential compliance risk. Ensure compliance with all government regulations and mandates. Contribute to investigations as needed to address potential compliance concerns. Drive innovation and actively contribute to new strategies supporting business goals. Make appropriate judgment calls during times of ambiguity and can lead team through new legal territory. Pursue calculated risk-taking in an unpredictable environment with appropriate contingency planning and continually challenge status quo. Actively contribute to Legal Function though participating in initiatives to build departmental knowledge and capabilities by sharing best practices. Partners with colleagues to contribute expertise as needed. JD degree or equivalent degree. Should have 5+ years of related experience in legal counseling role from a pharmaceutical / biotech industry. Will consider like expertise from a major law firm. Strong knowledge of legal issues affecting the pharma/biotech industry including regulatory, commercial, privacy, and digital/social media is needed. Strong business acumen with deep understanding of the pharmaceutical business and related legal issues are essential. Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills are needed. Strong negotiation and conflict management skills are needed.
