Contract Specialist, ISMC The candidate will support the ISMC (independent, small and medium chain retail pharmacy) customer segment of McKesson’s US Pharmaceutical and Specialty Health Distribution Business. Primary responsibilities will include extensive contract drafting and management of issues related to ISMC customer distribution agreements, as well as general legal support for the ISMC segment under the supervision and direction of ISMC segment attorneys. Draft and review complex supply contracts, amendments, renewals, terminations and other types of agreements as required. Issue spot potential legal and business issues during contract negotiations and work with ISMC attorneys, key business stakeholders and operational experts to analyze and resolve such issues. Prior healthcare regulatory experience, particularly knowledge and experience related to the federal Anti-Kickback Statute, is a plus. Effectively explain contracting language to internal clients. Proficiently draft customized and negotiated provisions in supply agreement contracts with minimal attorney oversight. Interface with various internal business partners to develop contracting strategies to mitigate McKesson’s exposure and risk in supply agreement contracts with customers. Research developments related to key regulatory areas or other areas impacting the ISMC segment as may be requested by ISMC attorneys from time to time. Work with ISMC attorneys and other team members to review and update standard operating policies and procedures when needed, as well as develop new policies and procedures. Work with ISMC attorneys and other team members to review and update templates, including standard contract templates and amendment templates, as well as develop new templates. Review and provide initial comments on draft marketing materials related to ISMC programs and/or affiliated business units.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate must have 2 year Associates degree and/or Paralegal Certificate with 5+ years related work experience, or 4 year degree (Preferred) with 3+ years related work experience, or JD Degree with 2+ years related work experience. Should have excellent commercial contract drafting skills. Should have strong attention to detail. Should have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Should have strong interpersonal skills. Must have ability to adapt quickly to ever changing timelines and changes in priority. Must have ability to work with larger team in seeking efficiencies for legal support. Must have aptitude to manage simultaneous projects in an efficient and timely manner. Should have proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe, and SalesForce .
