Part-Time Staff Attorney Duties: Provide brief service, accurate legal advice and referrals to older Georgians and their families, with a focus on those seniors who are socially or economically vulnerable. Focuses on increasing access to legal services for seniors and helping seniors live independently. Review contracts, negotiate with third parties, draft demand letters, and prepare self-help materials. Trained to provide such brief legal service in a variety of civil law issues, including housing, consumer, health, public benefits, and life planning, such as medical directives, powers of attorney, wills, and probate.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: A Georgia Bar license or eligibility to sit for the next Bar exam is required. Excellent legal writing, oral advocacy and work ethic. Communication and listening skills, ability to work on a team and alone, adaptability, and appreciation of diversity are required. Demonstrated commitment to public service, participation in law school clinics, trial advocacy courses, familiarity with law affecting seniors or other areas of poverty law, and previous work with low-income persons or senior citizens are strongly preferred.
Schedule: 25 hours per week
