Protective Order Attorney The candidate will provide quality and competent advice and/or representation to assigned clients in accordance with grant guidelines and agency policies. Will be responsible for handling all protective orders and other matters related to family law. Responsibilities include providing advice and representation to victims of domestic abuse regarding orders of protection, custody, visitation, support, divorce, as well as public benefits, housing, and other civil legal problems related to domestic violence; interviewing clients and reviewing questionnaires in order to select, assemble, summarize, and compile substantial information; preparing all court documents and pleadings; conducting legal research, including file review in court; and performing all aspects of discovery.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have a Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited academic institution; a current license to practice law in the State of Texas; a minimum of one to three(1-3) years of litigation experience, preferably in family court; commitment to practicing law in the public interest sector; and knowledge of domestic violence and the law, as it pertains to domestic violence.
