Profile

Legal Support Professional (Paralegal) Duties: Conduct client interviews, facilitate referral process, including maintaining case records and tracking statuses and outcomes, investigate and prepare cases for placement with attorneys, prepare client correspondence and case pleadings; Assist with volunteer recruitment, orientation, coordination, and appreciation efforts, including planning volunteer recruitment events and maintaining records of pro bono attorney recruitment Facilitate pro bono referrals, maintain case records in proper form, track case statuses and outcomes; Serve as a liaison between hospital partners and pro bono volunteers; Work cooperatively with Legal Aid staff and hospital partners on program-related projects, attend meetings and collaborate with health care providers and other hospital staff; Compile program-related data on referrals, case status, and outcomes; create related reports and publications on a monthly basis; Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: Bachelor Degree, Paralegal Certification, JD Degree or equivalent education with 3+ years' practical experience in the legal profession. Prior experience or training in the medical field preferred, ability to comply with medical and legal privacy standards. Strong planning, problem solving, and organizing skills. Effective oral and written communicative abilities. Positive interpersonal skills to deal with employees, volunteers from private bar & clients. Ability to read and understand medical records a plus. Experience drafting court pleadings and client correspondence. Spanish language skills plus.
