Associate Attorney RESPONSIBILITIES: Prosecute environmental, civil rights and community access lawsuits in state and federal courts on behalf; Engage with staff as the legal voice of the triad; Represent at hearings in courts and before various administrative agencies responsible for enforcing federal, state and local environmental and energy laws; Participate in policy development and advocacy at local, regional, and state government levels. Engage in public education and outreach to promote legal work; Attend and provide support at community meetings with staff and members.

Qualification and Experience

REQUIREMENTS: 1+ year relevant legal experience, including litigation experience; California Bar Membership; Working knowledge of California and federal environmental law; Solid understanding of, and commitment to, social and environmental justice; Excellent legal writing and public speaking skills; Spanish language skills preferred; Ability to ensure a positive, team/collective-oriented environment; Ability to work in a manner that complies with organizational standards and policies; Ability to participate through a consensus decision making process; Willingness to travel in California and work frequent evenings and some weekends. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in public interest work, the environmental movement, civil rights, and/or personal history with communities highly impacted by pollution.
