Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage all elements of case work-up and trial preparation for privacy litigation matters
  • Draft briefs, complaints, pretrial motions, memoranda, and discovery requests
  • Provide immediate client interaction, offering practical advice on privacy and tech transaction matters
  • Handle privacy and incident response matters, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and international privacy laws
  • Collaborate with clients on complex privacy litigation issues and deliver strategic legal counsel
  • Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to support litigation strategies
  • Prepare and respond to discovery requests, motions, and other litigation-related documents
  • Participate in trial preparations, including witness prep, exhibit preparation, and strategy development
  • Engage in settlement negotiations and assist with trial proceedings
  • Stay updated on developments in privacy laws and emerging data protection regulations

Requirements:

  • Significant litigation experience, particularly in privacy-related cases
  • Expertise in federal, state, and international privacy laws (CIPP or similar certifications are a plus)
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Ability to draft a wide range of legal documents, including briefs, complaints, and motions
  • Superior problem-solving skills, with the ability to offer practical legal advice
  • Strong client-facing skills, with the ability to interact and communicate effectively with clients
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple complex projects simultaneously
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Must be licensed to practice law in California (in good standing)

Skills:

  • Advanced understanding of privacy law, including GDPR, CCPA, and HIPAA
  • Proficiency in legal research tools (., Westlaw, LexisNexis)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills with a focus on attention to detail
