Position Overview: Senior paralegal to support several senior attorneys with state and federal law research activities, the drafting and execution of client investment management agreements, and preparation and processing of other complex legal documents


Separate Accounts:

  • Review and understand investment-related contracts and other legal documentation
  • Understand and communicate company’s position on key issues
  • Review prospective client redlines and draft agreements and synthesize key issues, working with a designated attorney to resolve
  • Coordinate various levels of review and approval for amendments and new agreements before signature
  • Work well under time pressure

•     Work under minimum supervision of attorneys and lead paralegal, with assignments spot-checked as needed.

•     Partner with distribution and client relations groups to manage onboarding of new investment advisory clients, implementation of investment management agreements and related documentation, as well as respond to client diligence or other regulatory related requests.

•     Facilitate the resolution of Legal issues as they arise in the normal course of business.

Private Placement Investment Review:

  • Receive and review high volume of emails related to various prospective and current investments to summarize action items for relevant attorney
  • Review multiple drafts of legal agreements  to ensure changes have been captured

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of paralegal experience.
  • 2 years formal legal training or equivalent.  Extensive knowledge of relevant area of responsibility.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience at an investment manager; financial services firm engaged investment management or securities business; or law firm practice with a focus on investment management and/or securities.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact and communicate with sophisticated business clients.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills and ability to work independently.
  • Experience with complex investment transactions and related documentation.
  • Experience providing legal support to a registered investment advisor and assisting with implementation of regulatory obligations.
