Intellectual Property Specialist The candidate will serve for the IP Prosecution, Transactions and Strategy Practice Area. Will provide support to attorneys in rendering legal services to clients. Assist in all procedural and substantive matters regarding U.S. utility, design, 371 national stage, divisional, continuation, and provisional patent applications. Prepare new patent applications and other patent prosecution documents for filing with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), including gathering all necessary information from clients regarding the same and monitoring and maintaining applications through issuance. Communicate with attorneys, as well as clients, local government agencies, embassies, and U.S. State Department officials regarding preparing and processing all paperwork necessary during pendency of patent applications. Communicate with clients on initial filing requests and other correspondence during the prosecution of the U.S. patent applications. Prepare reports for clients regarding pending patent applications and granted patents; oversee accuracy and necessary follow-up on daily docket entries; maintain patent portfolios with supervising attorneys.

Qualification and Experience

The candidate should have a Bachelor's Degree and/or Paralegal Certificate. Must have 6+ years of related work experience. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word) essential. Knowledge of document generation software (IPDAS) needed. Knowledge of international and U.S. patent databases essential. Knowledge of docketing software (Inprotech) needed. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word) essential. Strong written and verbal communication skills essential. Strong organizational skills and client service skills needed.

Pros : The firm uses technology quite well, which you might not expect - everything is up to date, and some jobs can be remotely performed, at least some of the time. Benefits are definitely above average.
Cons : Has a lot of the problems inherent to a larger and more established firm. Management sometimes seems unwilling to listen to or to deal with concerns. Not a lot of room for growth, in some functions, and when there are opportunities, you feel like they are distributed to those who are ""insiders"".
