Legal Assistant - Court Attendant The candidate will perform various administrative tasks to help the judge(s) manage their workload and court schedule. Common job duties include drafting pleadings, filing and copying, answering general questions about court proceedings (employees are not allowed to give out legal advice), issuing pre-approved court orders and transcribing court correspondences. A Court Attendant may also be responsible for managing scheduled trials, motions and court hearings, as well as supervising interns, volunteers or law clerks. Duties also include some legal research and drafting of court documents to be reviewed and approved by the judge. This position can also be referred to as administrative assistant, court clerk or another similar title. Preferred applicants must have 1 year of law school OR a certificate, associate's or bachelor’s degree in a related area, such as paralegal/legal studies, political science or criminal justice. Must have strong writing, organizational and time-management skills; ability to critically think; strong computer and typing skills; a quick learner of new software; and professional office experience. Recent experience (within the last 2 years) working in a law firm and/or with the electronic filing system “Alacourt” and/or "AlaFile" is a plus.
