Senior Paralegal The candidate will be responsible for providing high level legal support to Law Department attorneys, managers, and staff in cases and administrative projects. Prepare and manage cases for attorneys by organizing exhibits, finalizing affidavits and legal correspondences, and maintaining documents in paper and electronic filing systems. Serve as a liaison between the Law and Information Technology departments in coordinating eDiscovery efforts in litigations. Carry out extensive legal research, including gathering and analyzing research data, such as statutes, decisions, legal arguments, codes, and documents. Draft complex legal documents, including briefs, pleadings, appeals, contracts, discovery and subpoena responses, and statements. Partner with the Manager, Legal Support in identifying areas of improvement in case management processes, and act as a mentor to junior support staff. Manage complex document collections and document processing efforts for large-scale litigations. Investigate facts and laws of cases, and search pertinent sources to determine causes of action and prepare cases. Interview witnesses and schedule depositions. Lead other special projects, legal support tasks, and administrative duties as needed.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate must have Bachelors degree. Should have 5-7 years of experience. Demonstrated years experience working in a large law firm or corporate legal department environment is needed. Excellent project management skills with a strong attention to details is required. Experience mentoring junior paralegals and cases assistants is must. Experience coordinating or managing evidence collection efforts, with considerable experience and knowledge in strategizing eDiscovery collections is essential. Excellent research and analytical skills is required. Experience working with railroads or other industrial environments with extensive personnel policies, labor agreements, and discipline processes is preferred. Experience with eDiscovery collections and productions, along with trends and forecasting in eDiscovery is a plus.
