Assistant General Counsel
The candidate will provide advice and counsel with respect to the legal areas of contracting, acquisitions, general corporate, and regulatory matters. Negotiate, review and prepare agreements in areas of responsibility. Provide consultation and technical assistance, as assigned, for general corporate governance matters, such as board and committee minutes. Monitor and research regulatory, case law, and legislative issues and trends of interest to the company. Anticipate changes impacting operations, notify management and recommend preparatory actions. Work collaboratively with a broad range of stakeholders throughout the organization to develop and maintain strong relationships with business units. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; and participating in professional societies. Actively support the achievement of Vision and Goals. Other duties as assigned.

Qualification and Experience

The candidate should have a Law Degree from an ABA-accredited law school and California Bar membership. Should have 4+ years of relevant legal experience in a law firm, government agency and or health care company legal department, including structuring, negotiating and drafting contracts and preferably specializing in issues related to health care. Familiarity with relevant laws applicable to health care organizations preferred. Ability to anticipate and understand the implications of agreements, contractual provisions, and related decisions on a client, including identifying and assessing potential risks and impacts. Working knowledge of different types of privacy challenges. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills; ability to identify and analyze complex issues and devise solutions and strategies. Strong organizational skills; ability to multitask. The ability to collaborate as a team player and to adapt to change and master new skills and assume additional responsibilities as needed. Practical and business orientation. Hardworking with a roll up your sleeves attitude. Mission-driven and ethical; ability to appropriately maintain confidentiality. Strong interpersonal skills, including excellent written and verbal communication skills; personal presence and the professional demeanor needed to work with all levels of individuals throughout the organization.
