ProfileHuman Resources Specialist (Employee Benefits), GS 9 The candidate will be responsible for the military buyback program Responsible for civilian deposit and re-deposit. Determines appropriate retirement program for new employees, re-employed annuitants, and rehires. Works with the Office of Personnel Management regarding retirement program discrepancies. Responsible for health, life and TSP program guidance and compliance. Conducts pre-retirement counseling. Coordinates yearly open season benefit fair. Assists employees or supervisors in filing claims for eligible benefits within assigned program areas. Coordinates retirement seminars and periodic employee training. Review employee personnel actions in HR Smart prior to releasing. Traveling is required.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate must have the following qualifications:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-07 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Providing guidance and consultation to managers, supervisors, and employees regarding obligations to rights, benefit entitlements such as leave, health and life insurance, Thrift Savings Plan (TSP), military service credit and retirements, Providing advice and counsel to Managers, Supervisors, employees, and annuitants regarding a wide variety of retirement issues, Compiling, coordinating, and preparing reports, Providing assistance and Administering special retirement programs for assigned organizational units. OR, Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have a master's or equivalent graduate degree or two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., for the experience required for the GS-09 level.
