Assistant Deputy Ethics Counsel (Attorney 1) The candidate draft legal documents after file review and legal research, including primarily motions for final and reciprocal discipline, but also memoranda, pleadings, affidavits and correspondence. The selected candidate will also assist with monitoring the approximately forty-five (45) attorneys required by the Supreme Court to submit to a variety of controls as a condition of their entry into the diversion program. Draft correspondence, make telephone calls, and draft and file motions for temporary suspension from practice as necessary. Assist with monitoring compliance with the conditions of diversion for the approximately forty (40) attorneys admitted to the diversion program each year. Assist Deputy Ethics Counsel (Attorney 2s) with drafting agreements in lieu of discipline, motions for discipline by consent, disciplinary stipulations, and other pleadings. Perform legal research to determine the appropriate quantum of discipline for ethics infractions.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have completed Graduation from an American Bar Association-approved law school and 1 year of experience in legal research and analyzing and evaluating legal documents, rules, regulations, and/or legislation. Substitution: 1 year of experience as a Judicial Law Clerk may be substituted for one year of the required experience.
License: Attorney-at-Law with a plenary license in the State of New Jersey and having Supreme Court Good Standing Status of Active.
