Legal Operations Manager - Legal
The candidate will develop project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders. Ensure all projects are delivered timely, within scope and within budget. Work with the Head of Legal Operations to stay up to date on industry best practice and leading law department processes to inform the department and influence continuous improvement. Build strong relationships across legal ecosystem to understand current state and make recommendations for improved operations. Support continuous improvement projects in the delivery of legal services in order to meet the needs of the legal department. Assist in identifying and tracking departmental success metrics, providing business insight to legal team members to improve alignment with business goals. Work with the Head of Legal Operations to design internal policies and procedures for the department. Assist in the performance review and merit planning cycles as needed. Assist in the annual budget process as well as ongoing budget management and monitoring. Act as the key point of contact for the e-billing and matter management system. This includes the monthly accrual process. Provide input and assist with the design and implementation of the law department technology road map. Assist with on boarding of employees and organizational coordination across the department. Enhance and maintain an environment that encourages team work and individual efforts and ethical behavior. Exhibit effective verbal and written communication skills to ensure flow of information up and down the chain of authority. Build consensus and commitment behind the firm’s Core Values throughout the Legal Operations Department by demonstrating strong leadership. Work collaboratively with department management to ensure performance goals are attained and met. Act as a point of contact for questions and concerns regarding legal processes and performance. Develop best practices, routines and innovative solutions to improve production rates and quality of output All other duties as assigned.

Qualification and Experience

The candidate must have Paralegal or Bachelor’s degree. MBA preferred. 3-5 years of process and project management experience strongly desired. Accounting experience preferred. Strong analytical problem solving and decision making skills required. Experience in law technology preferred. Should have ability to build relationships internally as well as externally. Must have excellent communication, including strong presentation skills and executive presence. Should have demonstrated ability to work within a highly collaborative business environment. Strong project/process management experience desired, Six Sigma expertise preferred. Should preferably have experience with law department operations and technologies, including: matter management, e-billing, document management, discovery management and contract management. Proven ability to deliver innovative solutions and possession of a continuous improvement mindset and approach is a plus.
