Profilee-Discovery Paralegal The candidate will assist firm Law Department’s Discovery Group in all phases of electronic discovery across all litigation, regulatory, government, and subpoena matters. Assist with assessing eDiscovery requirements and provide support for all phases of the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM) under the supervision of a senior paralegal. Compose pleadings (i.e.: motions, appeals, and etc.), testimonies, briefs, opinions, subpoenas, discoveries, pretrial agreements, transcripts, memoranda, correspondence, reports, and various other documents for attorneys. Compose reports regarding compliance for federal, state, and local regulatory agencies and commissions. Record and monitor the docket schedule of court appearance dates, pleadings, cases, and postponements for attorneys. Prepare and assemble case materials, exhibits, and documents for meetings, hearings, and court appearances. Provide support for legal discovery including the collection and examination of documents, privilege review, redaction, and composition of requests and responses; review and analyze documents using Clearwell and Relativity. Assist with the preparation of witnesses for meetings, hearings, depositions, and court appearances; communicate closely with in-house legal team, information technology department, records team, outside counsel, and eDiscovery service providers to successfully complete eDiscovery activities; and assist the eDiscovery Group with the creation, implementation, and day-to-day management of eDiscovery projects. Research case law citations, references, quotations, court proceedings, hearing processes, and litigation procedures, facts, and terminology. Establish, update, and maintain a legal library for filing and record keeping of all cases, meetings, evidence, materials, correspondence, and documents. Ensure the accurate and complete indexing and affixation of labeling for documents. Coordinate with client groups, consultants, opposing counsel, court officials and regulatory agency/commission personnel regarding various legal and compliance matters; communicate with firm custodians to identify and collect data. Respond to various inquiries, requests, visitations, telephone calls, and correspondence regarding meetings, hearings, cases, and court proceedings. Provide support to attorneys for meetings, hearings, depositions, and court appearances; provide advice, coordinate and manage all e-Discovery activities for subpoenas, litigation matters, and regulatory matters. Develop recommendations to continuously improve case management, administration, and support; provide advice, coordinate and manage all eDiscovery activities for subpoenas, litigation matters, and regulatory matters, and identify and implement eDiscovery process improvements; and maintain and analyze metrics of eDiscovery activities. Participate in eDiscovery conferences and events. Provide training guidance, and instruction to paralegal clerks. Bachelor’s degree in business administration, communications, English, international relations, journalism, political science, public affairs, public policy, science, or related discipline or relevant education or work experience is needed.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have 3+ years of experience as a paralegal or as a legal assistant, secretary, or clerk. Should have 5+ years of experience as a paralegal. Knowledge of technology, eDiscovery concepts, legal holds, chain of custody, document review/management platforms, common data sources, Boolean searching and file types are needed. Proficient with eDiscovery software and technology is needed. Strong verbal and written communication skills are needed. Strong Excel skills is needed.
