FDC- Attorney Duties: The candidate will be responsible for conducting legal research and providing legal opinions to the Attorney Supervisor, the Deputy General Counsel, the General Counsel, agency administrators and agency field staff on legal issues arising from the incarceration of Floridaâ€™s inmates. Other duties may include the following: Conducts legal research and provide legal opinions to the Office of General Counsel as needed. Represent the Department of Corrections before federal and state courts and administrative bodies. Provide legal opinions to agency policymakers and agency field staff. Prepare legal pleadings. Review written materials for legal sufficiency. Review, analyze, and drafting proposed legislation. Coordinate document/record production. Perform other tasks as assigned by the Attorney Supervisor, Deputy General Counsel and General Counsel.
Qualification and Experience
Qualification: The candidate should have must have knowledge of legal terminology, Knowledge of the principles and practices of jurisprudence; Knowledge of Florida laws and legal procedure; Knowledge of civil and criminal law and procedure; Knowledge of court proceedings; Knowledge of Floridaâ€™s legislative process, ethics requirements for public officers, constitutional law, open government and public records laws. Must be a currently a member or eligible to become a member of the Florida Bar.
