ProfileParalegal DUTIES: Working closely with various government agencies and social services providers. Visiting shelters for unaccompanied immigrant children in the Miami area several times a week. Conducting Know Your Rights presentations. Conducting individual client interviews and follow-up meetings. Translating for clients and/or attorneys at administrative interviews, hearings and presentations. Completing applications for immigration relief: including research, assistance in obtaining documents and preparation of legal documents. Assisting with preparation of motions and other court documents. Participating in regularly scheduled calls and in-person meetings with stakeholders. Conducting daily case management, performing clerical duties such as data entry, filing and database maintenance. Coordinating legal services for unaccompanied children.
Qualification and Experience
QUALIFICATIONS: BA degree required. Experience working with adolescents preferred. Previous BIA accreditation helpful. Experience in public interest law, particularly immigration law or child welfare, preferred. Familiarity with Microsoft Office required. Knowledge of client database systems preferred. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with children from different cultures and backgrounds. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Written and verbal fluency in Spanish and English required.
