Associate Counsel The candidate will serves to advise, recommend, and provide legal counsel to the organization under the supervision and directions of the Vice President of Legal Affairs, and to provide quality legal services to firm in a timely and efficient manner. Specifically, will be primarily responsible for transactional legal services, as assigned, which may include real estate matters, vendor contracts, and other third party agreements, including firm's joint ventures. Serve as a primary contact for various regulatory and operational health system legal issues. Assists in the administration of system wide contracts, contract management and policy development. Expected to deal discreetly with a wide variety of sensitive, confidential information concerning the organizations affairs. Work requires moderate responsibility for material resources. Examples of resources could include operating budgets for a work unit or department, specialized equipment, costly or unusual materials or supplies, large amounts of cash or other material assets.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree. Must have demonstrated legal acumen through experience or academics; Admission or eligibility for admission to the Iowa and Illinois State Bar. Must have 5+ years or more of legal practice. Must have experience as in-house counsel to a hospital or health system; Long-term care knowledge; Physician practice knowledge. Must have License to practice in Iowa and/or Illinois and eligibility based on reciprocity.
