Senior Legal Counsel – Litigation and Labor and Employment
Responsibilities: Provides timely and practical analysis and counsel on legal matters and policy issues related to employment law that impact the Company’s current and planned business activities. Manage and oversee employment, consumer and commercial litigation and arbitration docket by serving as the lead in-house attorney. Includes actively supervising outside counsel, cost containment measures, case management plans and other world-class litigation management strategies. Serves as the primary day to day attorney counseling Human Resources including employment law and benefits. Responsible for maintaining and updating as appropriate the company’s standard arbitration agreements with coworkers and customers. Conducts investigations, prepares written reports and recommendations. Participates in development of various policies with legal implications and recommends procedural improvements. Provides training to coworkers on matters within the scope of the position. Handles assigned subject areas within areas of legal expertise with a high degree of independence, quality, competence, responsiveness, planning, sound judgment, and minimal need for supervision. Interacts with Senior Executive Management team. Build and maintain positive relationships and collaborate effectively with the legal team as well as internal business partners. Learn the Company’s business, industry, competitive environment and future growth objectives.

Qualification and Experience

Requirements: JD Degree. Admitted to Texas state bar and actively licensed to practice law and in good standing. 7-8+ years’ experience in large firm private practice and/or in-house attorney, with a focus on the responsibilities outlined above. Demonstrated sophisticated litigation experience, including class actions and both state and federal court cases. Proficient with Microsoft Office. Must be highly organized and detail oriented. Strong negotiation skills. Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills. Aptitude for creative litigation strategy to enhance the Company’s position and contain litigation costs . Excellent oral and written skills in the communication of business and legal issues . Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals within time allotted. Strong work ethic and professional commitment.
