Profile

Manager, Paralegal The candidate will oversee a team of paralegals responsible for conducting legal research, drafting legal documents, and performing other legal related duties under the guidance of company attorneys. In some areas of the firm may focus on legal activities related to investment advisory services, fund management, product development, or trust administration. Supervises the preparation, drafting, and processing of a variety of legal documents for general or specific areas of company's legal practice including corporate secretarial, subsidiary and business committees, business lines and departments, and/or designated clients, regulators, investors, outside attorneys and Bank customers. Serves as an escalation point for complex or unprecedented issues. Determines resolution and/or works with attorneys to determine appropriate resolution. Oversees the compilation of complex information from a variety of bank sources and prepares responses to legal information requests from outside counsel, judicial bodies, investors or other stakeholders. May administer/maintain specific legal databases or applications that track matters, docketing, filings, etc. Ensures that team follows all documentation retention and filing procedures. Directly communicates with outside counsel and staff on engagements, arranging critical exchange of information, and reviewing incoming documents for relevance and proper dispensation. May do a preliminary review of content and provide an overview for attorneys. Provides recommendations and tools to the team on fact-finding and legal research sources and techniques. May also perform legal research and prepare findings for review by attorneys. May provide input into potential actions or subsequent research based on findings. Recruits, directs, motivates and develops staff, maximizing their individual contribution, their professional growth and their ability to function effectively with their colleagues as a team. Manages a team of paralegals, including coaching, performance management and resource allocation. May have budgetary or other financial responsibilities. Responsible for the achievement of team objectives. Modified based upon local regulations/requirements.

Qualification and Experience

The candidate should have a Bachelor s degree or paralegal certificate, or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required. 5-7 years of total work experience, 0-1 years of management experience preferred. Experience in legal support within the financial services industry preferred.
