ProfileTemporary Staff Attorney, Immigrant Protection Unit The candidate will represent immigrant clients on a variety of immigration matters at the USCIS, Immigration Courts and Board of Immigration Appeals with an emphasis on removal defense cases; Prepare filings of immigration applications for adjustment of status, citizenship, asylum, provisional waivers, VAWA self-petitions, U Visas, T Visas, SIJS, asylum applications, etc.; Prepare legal documents such as memos, motions, and appeals; Provide advice and consultation to immigrants in New York City, including at on-site clinical programs; Represent NYLAG at advocate meetings and community events. Admission to any state Bar is essential. Must have 2-3 years of immigration law experience. Fluency in another language, including Spanish or Mandarin, is preferred. Note: This is a temporary assignment to cover a maternity leave. The ideal candidate will begin work in April 2018 for an approximate six-month term (with possible extension).
