ProfilePatent Paralegal Reports to General Counsel and provides support to CTO’s office, especially the I.P. Portfolio Manager. Assist technical personnel in navigating the IP development process, especially in managing the invention disclosure process by assisting/liaising with engineers in the collection, processing, and formulation of invention disclosure forms. Maintain internal patent docketing system. Monitor third party patent activities domestically and abroad. Prepare and forward documentation to in-house and outside counsel. Track inventor awards Identify creative ways to improve the IP capture and processing process. Assist with management of Patent Committee, including- maintaining meeting preparation; meeting set up and coordination; sending out reporting emails to inventors and participants; follow-up on action items as identified. Assist in other miscellaneous patent paralegal tasks.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Completion of the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA) Training. 5+ years in house patent prosecution experience. Strong understanding of patent filing and prosecution procedures, formalities, and documentation requirements familiar with the intricacies of the IP asset procurement process. Proficient with MS office software, and IP management software tools (experience with PatSnap or similar software preferred). Well organized- careful attention to detail, willing to review, revise, and cross-check to ensure accuracy of information so that mistakes are non-existent, minimal, or not repeated with strong communication skills, and ability to handle multiple matters efficiently. Service-oriented, dependable, competent, trustworthy, and self-motivated. Preferred: Additional experience at a law firm.
