Profile

Spring Legal Internship Law student will work directly with the legal team and other staff to implement public policies benefiting farmed animals—primarily through legislation, citizen referendums, and administrative action on the state and federal levels. Students’ work will include managing grassroots get-out-the-vote initiatives, researching and drafting policy briefs and memoranda, writing action alerts and blog posts, drafting public records requests and reviewing responses, and other assignments commensurate with experience. Will work directly with our attorneys in the legal advocacy department, to conduct research on federal, state, and local laws, draft memoranda, review footage from undercover investigations, write blog posts on legal issues in farmed animal protection, and research agricultural industry standards and practices. Leave with exposure to emerging fields of law, hands-on experience in investigations, litigation, and corporate governance, and connections that could help land a career in animal protection. A commitment of eight to ten weeks is preferred for summer interns. Deadline: November 1
