Corporate Counsel Duties: Oversee and direct the various legal aspects of the business. Provide hands-on counsel and advice to all levels of executive staff. Manage the operations of the legal/risk department. Identify and analyze complex legal issues, draft key legal documents, present clear recommendations to top management. Ensure legal compliance and lead the safeguarding of Oakwood’s reputation. Coordinate all legal matters with outside counsel as needed. Negotiate key contracts such as management contracts, license and franchise agreements as well as corporate M&A documentation. Functional alignment to Legal Dept of Mapletree group. Lead management in devising efficient defense strategies. Develop major goals to support broad functional objectives such as but not limited to compliance with internal policies, practices for approval of contracts and compliance with local, state, and federal law regarding corporate matter. Approve internal governance policies and oversee the monitoring of compliance with corporate matters. Evaluate different risk factors regarding business decisions and operations. Draft, review, and recommend content in agreements, contracts, and other legal documents to protect Oakwood's full legal rights.
Qualification and ExperienceQualifications: Requires California State Bar Certification. Must have 3-5 years Corporate Counsel experience, ideally with a multi-jurisdiction background. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Extensive knowledge of corporate law and procedures. Extensive knowledge of external relations with government. Advanced skills in acting as legal counsel in a business environment. Strong ability to impart a high degree of professional ethics and integrity.
