Paralegal-Commercial Litigation Candidate will assist on a variety of environmental litigation matters. Will assist lawyers with all phases of case support including document/information management (including ESI), factual and legal research and analysis, discovery, briefing, hearings, and trial. Maintain close contact with clients, lawyers, and staff. Organize and maintain case files, pleadings, and other documents and attorney notebooks. Review and synthesize historical documents, articles, reports, witness statements, and depositions. Coordinate and attend client conferences, hearings, trials, document productions, and depositions. Prepare materials for in-house and outside distribution. Draft legal documents and correspondence. Coordinate service of process and filings. Obtain factual information from clients and third parties, including governmental agencies. Track case/matter deadlines. Perform computer database input and retrieval.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: 4 year degree and 5+ years' paralegal experience. Paralegal Certificate preferred. Proven skills in managing and coordinating workload for litigation support team. Strong computer skills and experience with eÂ-discovery and automated litigation support software – Relativity, Concordance, Trial Director, CaseMap, PACER and LiveNote required. Demonstrated knowledge of civil litigation and the ability to take initiative and to exercise discretion and independent judgment. Strong knowledge of Westlaw; public records requests; FOIA requests; File Site; Microsoft applications; Adobe Acrobat Pro; local, state, and federal court rules; and citation style according to The Bluebook. Thorough knowledge of all phases of litigation, discovery, and trial procedures. Demonstrated skills in document/information management. Ability to express self effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to establish effective working relationships with Firm lawyers and staff, client personnel, and other professionals. Possess strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Sound knowledge of records storage procedures. Ability to handle multiple tasks, multiple concurrent deadlines, work well under pressure and independently.
