Managing Attorney Responsibilities: responsible for helping to lead county-wide legal work, its vision, direction and implementation, and provide direct supervision and support for a staff of attorneys, advocates, support staff, interns, and volunteers. Oversees and coordinates the delivery of high-quality legal assistance across county service areas, and works in collaboration with Directors, Managing Attorneys, and Regional Counsels. assists in the development and maintenance of relevant local, regional, or state-wide task forces and policy advocacy efforts that further baylegal’s work, as well as leads local relationship building, partnership, and collaboration with local court, government, and community agencies to maintain the social safety net for low-income residents.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: JD Degree, active California Bar membership, and 5 + years practice as a licensed attorney. Preference will be given to attorneys with prior managerial experience, experience in one of substantive priority areas and knowledge of County community, service providers, and service delivery network. Commitment to promoting and fostering diversity and inclusion in hiring and retention. Experience and comfort working with marginalized and diverse populations. Facility and transparency in communicating important information to staff and ability to motivate commitment to the firm. Ability to work well with colleagues and community allies in a variety of settings. Ability to develop and articulate a clear vision of priorities and inspire others to maximum effectiveness. Ability to communicate clearly, concisely and effectively, both in writing and orally, including in public presentations. Ability to organize and supervise the case work and projects of a professional office. Ability to effectively work with staff on personnel issues. Ability to work and communicate effectively with funders. Ability to track, maintain, and report statistics to funders.
