Profile

Litigation boutique law firm Leader Berkon Colao & Silverstein LLP has an immediate opening for a litigation paralegal to work on a broad range of commercial litigation matters. The paralegal will support attorneys throughout all phases of litigation, including initiating suit; discovery (including eDiscovery); preparing court submissions; trial; and post-trial and appellate proceduresCandidate would need to be able to:

 

  • Oversee the production and maintenance of litigation documents and evidentiary materials, organizing documents and assisting counsel to prepare for depositions, hearings, trials or other courtroom proceedings.

 

  • Handle court filings in compliance with court rules and procedures.

 

  • Maintain the calendar for all deadlines under the applicable rules of procedure and local rules.

 

  • Organize and maintain electronic and hard copy files for assigned cases.

 

  • Maintain a docket for each pending matter before a court, arbitration panel or governmental agency, as requested by attorneys.

 

  • Assist with the preparation of court filings.

 

 

Qualifications

 

  • Civil litigation experience.
  • Knowledge of Federal and New York local court rules, procedures, and practices.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with e-filing on PACER and NYS e-filing system.
  • Experience with calendaring or docketing systems.
  • Possess a strong understanding of the e-Discovery process, including the ability to manipulate and run database software.
  • Familiarity and working knowledge of document review software such as Relativity, Summation, Concordance or the like.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to execute through to completion.
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritize competing demands and meet various deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to handle confidential matters with discretion.
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in using Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Flexibility to work overtime when necessary.
  • Bachelor's degree or relevant work experience required, and Paralegal certificate is preferred.
