Property Tax Analyst The candidate will be responsible for analysis and identification of all applicable taxing authorities and associated applicable real estate tax ID’s at the time of loan origination and upon annual tax verification. Interpret documents including real estate tax maps, legal descriptions, surveys, appraisals, ground leases, deeds and mortgage loan documents. New loans do not fund until the tax analyst has successfully performed a detailed search of real estate taxes and has received confirmation reflecting tax payments are current; Evaluates real estate taxes on loans acquired through acquisitions, servicing assignments and the mortgage loan portfolios. Plots and analyzes collateral boundaries, researches and coordinates with borrowers/property managers to resolve tax parcel discrepancies; Analysis and identifies all applicable ground leases associated with the mortgage loans; Facilitate resolution of inquiries and requests from borrowers regarding real and personal property tax and ground leases. Analyze Investors’ risk related to borrower requests and resolve or escalate to manager; Provide document interpretation to Mortgage Loan Legal, Production, Special Servicing, Servicing, outside counsel, title companies and borrowers and recommend loan document changes related to property taxes or ground leases.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate must have bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience; Must have 5+ years of professional experience in property tax, paralegal, accounting, finance or real estate area or must have bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience; Must have 2+ years of professional experience in property tax, paralegal, accounting, finance or real estate area; Must have knowledge of taxation and real estate investments; Must have bachelor’s degree in real estate, business, or related area; Must have effective oral and written communication skills; Must have strong analytical and problem solving skills; must be detail oriented; Must have ability to work independently and maintain tight deadlines; Must have solid planning and organizational skills, including the ability to perform multiple assignments and responsibilities.
