ProfileModel Local Laws Intern - Spring 2018 The intern will support staff in conducting research and drafting language for use in writing Model Local Laws on costal management; brownfield usage; local waterfront revitalization; and related programs, that may be adopted by local governments. Duties include: research existing model local laws and/or enacted local laws to identify model language and best practices that can be replicated by local governments in New York; write local law templates that can be modified/customized by local governments; and assist staff with drafting policy, procedural, or supplemental guidance documents. Develop relationships with DOS staff, local government officials and other agency personnel, learn about local government/state relations, and come away with a better understanding of State operations. Should have strong research and analytical skills. Must have excellent writing skills. Competency in MS Office is needed. Preferred standing is 2nd Year Law Student. 1st Year Law Student is needed.
