Paralegal, Immigration Protection Unit The candidate will assist the Project Attorney in providing immigration legal services to immigrant victims of domestic violence. Responsibilities will include: Conduct civil legal screening; Conduct safety planning; Identify legal and non-legal needs for appropriate referrals; Research statutes, legal articles, and legal codes; Prepare legal documents such as cover letters, applications, memos, and motions, draft client affidavits; Maintain pertinent documents in client file folders and document case and client data; Prepare educational materials and provide group presentations to advise potential clients of their legal rights; Conduct outreach to partner sites for immigration educational trainings and help-desks; Work closely with FJC partners; Maintain files in NYLAG and FJC database. Must have a college degree. Should have four-year degree. Fluent in Spanish is required. Experience working with immigrants and/or domestic violence victims is preferred. Strong interest in immigration law and immigrant rights is needed. Excellent written, oral and analytical skills is must. Excellent computer skills (Word, Excel, internet research) is essential.
