ProfileJr. Prosecution Paralegal The candidate will be responsible for providing support to a team of prosecution paralegals and attorneys. This role will assist in the filing, preparation and maintenance of all types of U.S. and foreign patent and trademark applications, as well as assist in the general overflow of projects as assigned by the prosecution paralegal team. Learn and execute formalities requirements of major foreign patent offices: review foreign associate emails for formalities requests; send formal documents to client for execution and follow-up; order certified copies of priority documents; prepare formal documents for legalization; and review, forward and track progress of all documents from intake through confirmation by foreign associate within the specified deadlines. Draft and review documents for new applications to be filed: review and open matters in Intellectual Property Document Assembly System (IPDAS) and docket system; prepare US and foreign filing cost estimates; prepare paperwork for paralegal review. Electronically file documents relating to patent and trademark applications. Integrate new patent and trademark files from acquisition into existing systems. Create and update electronic and physical files, draft and send client reporting letters. Research legal and factual information using internal and external resources (e.g. library, internet, etc.). Provide general support to prosecution paralegals as needed, including but not limited to: data collection, reporting and special projects.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have a Bachelorâ€™s degree and/or Paralegal certificate preferred, but not required. Minimum of 2 years of law firm experience strongly preferred. Experience with electronic research tools and patent prosecution filing systems. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
