A law firm is seeking a Mid-Level Employee Benefits/Executive Compensation Associate Attorney to join their Denver, CO office. The successful candidate will have a strong background in employee benefits and executive compensation law, demonstrated by high academic achievement and relevant law firm experience. The role requires exceptional writing, drafting, and communication skills. The attorney will handle a variety of benefits and compensation matters, including plan design and administration, executive compensation in mergers and acquisitions, and taxation issues related to executive compensation.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Draft, design, and implement tax-qualified and non-qualified retirement plans, health and welfare benefit plans, and other employee benefit arrangements.
  • Manage and administer employee benefits programs, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Provide legal advice on executive compensation and benefits aspects of mergers and acquisitions.
  • Address taxation issues related to executive compensation arrangements, including compliance with Sections 409A and 280G of the Internal Revenue Code.
  • Design and draft employment agreements and other executive compensation arrangements.
  • Conduct legal research to stay informed of changes in relevant laws and regulations.
  • Prepare and review legal documents, correspondence, and reports.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
  • Provide strategic counsel and support to clients on complex benefits and compensation issues.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience in employee benefits and executive compensation law.
  • Proven experience in drafting, designing, implementing, and administering retirement and benefit plans.
  • Knowledge of executive compensation and benefits issues related to mergers and acquisitions.
  • Experience with taxation issues related to executive compensation arrangements.
  • Strong academic credentials with high achievement in law school.
  • Exceptional writing, drafting, and communication skills.
  • JD required.
  • Prior law firm experience is preferred.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admitted to the Bar and in good standing.
