ProfileGeneral Counsel The candidate manages the legal affairs of the California Housing Finance Agency by providing advice on day-to-day operations and strategic initiatives. Supervises its legal staff. The office also supports firm’s lending, insurance, and financing programs. Exercises broad discretion and independence, the General Counsel is responsible for all legal matters relating to the operation of firm; plans, organizes, directs, coordinates, supervises and reviews the work of the Assistant Chief Counsels. Must have active membership in The State Bar of California. Quality and breadth of experience related to the duties of the position, the following factors will be considered and will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate: Possess direct experience in one or all of the following: real estate law, banking and finance (single family and/or multifamily lending), personnel and/or labor law. Should possess direct experience managing the work of subordinate attorneys as well as support staff. Must possess experience providing legal support to executive level staff and/or a governing board, as well as working knowledge of the Bagley-Keene Act and Robert’s Rules of Order. Should possess experience streamlining departmental processes or activities through the use of technology or other means.
