ProfileAssistant County Attorney The candidate duties include: Representation of Child Protective Services (CPS) in child abuse and neglect cases. Responding to requests for public information. Advising elected officials and county department heads on various legal matters relating to county business. General civil litigation on behalf of Midland County and its elected officials, and supporting outside counsel in those efforts. Reviewing and preparing contracts. Representation of the State of Texas in mental health commitment proceedings. Reviewing and assessing purchasing issues. Attending Commissioner’s Court meetings and providing legal advice to the commissioners and all other elected officials. Recommending or drafting county policies to reflect expressed goals of commissioners or elected officials, identifying and minimizing potential legal risks. Performs other related duties of the office. Must be Licensed to practice law in Texas. Should have good standing with the State Bar of Texas.
