Senior Counsel, Collection Advisory Legal Group, CCB - AVP
Duties: Providing legal support to consumer debt operations. Partner with legal and business teams to implement new legislative and regulatory requirements and provide support for additional business programs. Analyze and resolve escalated issues in a broad variety of matters involving debt collections. Review business documentation (including policies, procedures, correspondence, customer communications, contracts) to provide quality control in the debt collection process and ensure business processes and procedures comply with legal requirements, regulatory guidance and internal policies. Partner with business and corporate function groups (e.g., Compliance, Risk, Controls and Audit) to provide in-depth analyses of changes in law and assist in evaluations of possible impacts to business processes or procedures. Provide support to special projects and cross-line-of-business issues involving debt collection legal requirements.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: JD Degree or educational equivalent required. Must be in compliance with all relevant licensing requirements including the requirements of the jurisdiction where the role will be located prior to commencement of employment. 3-5 years' experience practicing post JD or educational equivalent; consumer financial services experience preferred. Will consider candidates with 5+ years of post JD practicing experience for a VP title. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Team player who can collaborate within the legal department and across business groups. Analytical thinker who is independent/self-starter. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, changing environment. Strong sense of honesty and ethics and dedication to protecting the reputation of JPMC. Strong legal research skills on a variety of databases including Westlaw and/or Lexis. Strong organizational skills and the ability to drive complex projects across multiple lines of business. Ability and willingness to engage with advise senior business and legal stakeholders. All candidates for roles in the Legal department must successfully complete a conflicts of interest clearance review prior to commencement of employment. Preferred: Prior in-house or litigation experience involving consumer finance or debt collection issues. Working knowledge of consumer finance laws impacting debt collections including FDCPA, TCPA, SCRA, UDAAP and FCRA. Prior regulatory or compliance experience. Interest in consumer banking/lending. Experience handling a wide range of litigation and/or probate actions.
