General Counsel The candidate provides effective advice on company strategies and their implementation,and is directly involved in complex business transactions and negotiating critical contracts on behalf of the organization. Will develops innovative solutions for difficult, complex, and systemic problems that may have precedent-setting implications for the institution. The General Counsel participates in all Board and Executive Committee meetings to report on legal issues, provide legal advice,and provide guidance on corporate bylaws, articles and governance. Testing Accommodation activities including committee meetings, review of TAC consent agendas, legal review and editing of decision letters, updates on current cases, guidance on TAC applications and reconsiderations. Participating in the definition and development of corporate policies, procedures and programs and provide continuing counsel and guidance on legal matters and on legal implications of all matters. Provide advice and counsel on a broad range of legal topics including: labor and employment law, contracts, subpoena responses, court orders, intellectual property, research compliance and management strategies.Provide guidance on corporate bylaws, articles and governance. Completing legal review of contracts including drafting, negotiating and enforcing. Reviewing and updating legal content. Conducting litigation as necessary. Managing litigation, claims, or other legal claims. Managing all legal cases including initial response, writing briefs, researching cited cases, deposition and court hearings in coordination with legal counsel from insurance companies.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have JD degree. Should have 7-10 years of corporate legal experience with testing organizations, higher education, or a related industry. Experience with legal research and writing is needed. Experience in litigation matters are essential. Experience working with a regulatory agency, law firm or in a corporate environment, is preferred. Must be licensed to practice law. Working knowledge of ADA test accommodations are needed. Computer proficiency,including Outlook, Excel, Word is needed. Strong oral presentation skills, strong writing skills are needed.
